I hope you’ve had a fantastic start to your March so far! I’m sure you’re all aware by now, this time of year happens to be one of my favourites – the days are getting longer although it may still be crisp and cold outside, the sun is starting to shine brighter…what’s not to love? As I mentioned in my previous post, my winter hibernation period has officially come to end, so I thought that this week I’d share with you my top beauty & makeup tips for those lovely spring evenings out in London!
Although the sun’s out the wind is still taking a toll on my skin resulting in dry and chapped lips by the end of the day. As well as being extremely sore, it also makes it hard to apply lip colour. To combat this, I smother my lips in a chamomile infused lip balm every night before bed so that come morning, they’re feeling soft and ready to be pampered! One of my favourite glosses are Vitage® Colour Minerals Natural Lip Lustre’s, it’s uber moisturising and come in some great shades. At Londonsmiling, I use Nivea’s lip butter before I start to treat anyone to make sure lips are moist during any procedures. You might not like sitting in the dentist chair, but at least your lips are luscious when you leave 🙂
During the Spring/Summer seasons, I like to keep my makeup as subtle as possible so I usually steer clear of bright coloured shadows or liners. Instead, I usually opt for a simple mascara, and I often try to use one that enhances length. Quick tip: I always put a small amount of Vaseline on my lashes and comb them through as it helps application and makes the mascara go on nicely with no clumps or bumps!
I’m not a fan of thick powders or heavy foundation creams as it leaves my skin feeling dry and dehydrated, Some of you may know I have a thing about all the big brands having so little in their ranges for people of colour. It makes me incandescent with rage…do I not exist? However I have CoverFx which was actually developed by the guy that brought us MAC. It’s mineral based, has no nasties like talc and covers the vast range of REAL people’s skin tone. Highly recommend the brand!
Do try out some of these and let me know what you think!
Until next time…
